Coronavirus (COVID-19) Communication to Bridgewater Canal Users
Following the recent Government announcement on 31st October 2020 advising of the new national lockdown measures in England from 5th November, the Bridgewater Canal team will be working throughout to ensure our response to the COVID-19 pandemic is consistent with current Government advice.
Our main priority is the health and wellbeing of our staff, customers, and the general public who use our canal and towpath, which will remain open, as will all Bridgewater Canal Company facilities for essential use.
If you are considering visiting the Bridgewater Canal, please ensure that you follow the Government advice and social distancing measures. All information can be found on the Government websites:

Please note:
• All towpath users (pedestrians/cyclists/dog walkers/runners) should strictly observe social distancing at all times and obey local signage regarding cycling.
• During this four week lockdown period, there may be a delay in receiving new hard copy licences and boat number plates due to remote working. Do not worry if you are unable to display or do not receive your boat licence within this period as our Enforcement Team can confirm if a craft is licenced via our database
• During this period, there may be a delay with receiving postal correspondence. If you wish to contact us, please do so via our e-mail Bridgewatercanal@peel.co.uk.
Once again thank you all for your co-operation and understanding during these very difficult times.
Best wishes,
Peter Parkinson
Director – Bridgewater Canal
